Exploring the mysterious world of Alternate Watch

Alternate Watch invites players into a world where ordinary reality is interspersed with disturbing anomalies, challenging them to live until 6am by identifying and reporting these disturbances. The game, released in May 2022 and later expanded with additional content and finalized in April 2023, draws inspiration from the eerie atmosphere of The Mandela Catalog and the vigilant gameplay of I’m on Watch. The game is set in a universe created using the enhanced features of Unreal Engine 5, including Lumen global lighting for those with hardware that supports it. Players are tasked with recognizing different types of anomalies that distort the fabric of their environment.

A test of perception and nerve

As night falls in Alternate Watch, players must sharpen their senses to detect a wide range of anomalies, from pictures that change before your eyes to objects that mysteriously change location or even try to blend in with the crowd. The game intensifies as players encounter distorted human figures, ghostly creatures with piercing white eyes, and even the ominous whispering of a cloaked figure. Each type of anomaly, including the recently added corpse and the mysterious “unknown” category, requires close observation and quick reporting to ensure survival. Notably, an open door signifies an unwelcome visitor, adding some intrigue to the gameplay. With no plans for future updates, Alternate Watch is a unique standalone experience that tests players’ ability to detect the slightest change in their seemingly normal surroundings.
